Crews Quick Knockdown keep a local business open

Wednesday, November 6, 2013 1620  At 1620 hrs crews from 295 and 296 were alerted for a report of a vehicle on fire inside of a Storage building along Thompson Run Road in District 295. 295 Chief arrived on scene within minutes taking the Incident Command finding a single story commercial structure housing eight (8) separate storage units. Command reported a moderate smoke condition coming from the structure and a single unit door open showing a car with a fully involved engine compartment fire. Command requested the first alarm be filled bringing in the RIT, Fire Marshall, and Utilities. 295 Engine arrived shortly after and crews made quick work of the fire with a knock down time of under 5 minutes. Crews forced entry into the remaining units to check for extension finding there was none before the incident was deemed under control. Command and the interior crew remained on scene for the ACFM investigation while the rest of the units were released. There were no injuries reported and with the exception of the unfortunate damage to the vehicle there was no major damage done to the structure keeping this local business open for customers. Crews were on scene a little over 2 hours before the command was terminated and all were clear. Great Job to the attack team and thank you to all that were involved.
