The annual Children's Hospital Toy Drive has been a huge part of the holiday season for both ourselves, Dravosburg VFD#1 and numerous businesses in the area for the last 6 years. Unfortunately, like many other traditions the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we have to approach our community outreach. The last piece to the Rescue update is finally in place. The 2020 officers purchased this custom grill number from 1st Due Custom Solutions and installed the backlighting in house to put the finishing touch on the recently updated #southendrescuecompany. This week during a fire prevention demonstration at Cornerstone Christian Preparatory Academy Chief Hlasnick accepted a donation on behalf of #3 from the students’ ‘Penny War’ fundraiser. We’re fortunate to have a number of private schools in our first due and we sincerely appreciate the mutual support these relationships have grown into.
The Engine, Truck, and #southendrescuecompany stayed busy over the weekend with multiple alerts for vehicle accidents and fire alarms, including a 2 vehicle accident with entrapment on Camp Hollow Road and a commercial alarm activation at the Springhill Suites that was found to be a small fire in a stairwell. Late last week, the #southendrescuecompany was dispatched for a vehicle on fire in a parking lot just off of Lebanon Church Road. Rescue 295 arrived on scene to find a partially involved car fire with the occupants out and no exposure issues. 295 Captain held the assignment to the Rescue and Engine 131: all units returned to service shortly thereafter.
