The annual Children's Hospital Toy Drive has been a huge part of the holiday season for both ourselves, Dravosburg VFD#1 and numerous businesses in the area for the last 6 years. The last piece to the Rescue update is finally in place. The 2020 officers purchased this custom grill number from 1st Due Custom Solutions and installed the backlighting in house to put the finishing touch on the recently updated #southendrescuecompany. Stay tuned for more updates and see how this all ties in to the new apparatus that are nearing delivery day.

We haven’t had a #towerladdertuesday update for a while, but we are starting to get close to delivery day. Tower 295 has the body work/cabinets mounted and is getting closer to hitting the south end in late 2020.

It’s been a crazy year full of change, but we’re trying to follow through with the traditions that we can. Last night, the engine crew took to the streets during Trick or Treat to make sure everyone was having fun and staying safe.

This week during a fire prevention demonstration at Cornerstone Christian Preparatory Academy Chief Hlasnick accepted a donation on behalf of #3 from the students’ ‘Penny War’ fundraiser. We’re fortunate to have a number of private schools in our first due and we sincerely appreciate the mutual support these relationships have grown into.

The Engine, Truck, and #southendrescuecompany stayed busy over the weekend with multiple alerts for vehicle accidents and fire alarms, including a 2 vehicle accident with entrapment on Camp Hollow Road and a commercial alarm activation at the Springhill Suites that was found to be a small fire in a stairwell.  Even in these uncertain times, your local volunteers remain committed to providing the same dedicated emergency service as we have for the last 80 years. Late last week, the #southendrescuecompany was dispatched for a vehicle on fire in a parking lot just off of Lebanon Church Road. Rescue 295 arrived on scene to find a partially involved car fire with the occupants out and no exposure issues. 295 Captain held the assignment to the Rescue and Engine 131: all units returned to service shortly thereafter. This morning, the truck and Truck 232 from Pleasant Hills Volunteer Fire Company were requested to assist with a memorial arch for Broughton Volunteer Fire Department as they laid Past Chief Ferrelli to rest. Our condolences go out to the family and Starion 270.

Engine 295 on standby for the annual end of summer fireworks at Walnut Grove Christian School last night.

This week’s drill took crews to the other side of the south end to run basic search and truck company drills with Skyview Station 296. The vast majority of calls on our area are a dual dispatch with Skyview so familiarity between crews and equipment is crucial for smooth operations.
