Just before 8:30pm last night, #3 was dispatched for the first floor of an apartment building filled with smoke. 295 Chief, Rescue, and Truck responded along with 131 Engine, 296 Truck, 100 CR20, 294 Air, and 161 Special Service. Crews made entry to the structure and command scaled back the assignment after isolating the source of the smoke to a culinary mishap. The structure was ventilated and all units returned to service shortly there after.

As of yesterday at 1400hrs, Squad 295 has been taken out of service on the south end and is headed down the river to its new home with West Elizabeth Station 291. The Squad will be running along side another #3 alum as 291’s CF Mack also ran out of our station (originally coming from Pleasant Hills). Congrats to 291 on the new piece and stay tuned to see what we have on order to replace it.
Crews took advantage of the sunny (but chilly) weather yesterday to get some reps throwing the aerial: primarily focusing on truck positioning and offensive operations with short set backs. Repetition of these skills not only keeps the operators sharp but will provide a solid foundation for the drivers training program on the new tower ladder this fall.

We’re teaming up for the 6th year with Dravosburg Station 131 to collect toys for the kids at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. All too often, children are forced to spend the holidays in the hospital in exchange for receiving some of the best pediatric care in the nation and we're trying to make that stay a little more tolerable. We will be posting a list of donation box locations soon and will be collecting new, unopened toys, games, and art supplies now through 12/12. Help us…

We are excited to announce that after many months of research, preparation, budgeting, and designing we have signed orders for not one, but TWO brand new apparatus to be delivered late 2019 and early 2020 respectively. Combined with the recent refurb of the Rescue, these purchases will complete a near total overhaul of our fleet (which is currently the oldest in the borough). Both pieces have been designed from the ground up to serve the south end and will bring several, unique fea…
On behalf of the officers, executive staff, and firefighters of #3, we'd like congratulate life member and long time bar steward Bill Yoest on his retirement. Billy has been a fixture of the department for almost 40 years and continues to be a wealth of knowledge to all of us.Congrats!
This past Friday the company received our initial order of Honeywell particulate blocking hoods. These hoods are designed to keep cancer causing byproducts encountered in today's modern fire environments from being absorbed into the skin of our firefighters. these hoods along with a revamping of our on scene and post incident decontamination procedures are just some of the steps we're taking to address the results of the latest cancer presumption research.
